After 18 years in practice I feel like I either need to write a book or just give you bullet points. Maybe I will write that book and if I do I’ll put the link here, but for now let me give you the quick rundown.
- I know what I do helps people. I have been seeing a Chiropractor since I broke my spine when I was 12… skateboards… Not on my good for you list. Not only did it help me, but it has helped a large number of people. How do I know this? Because I try to make sure people are feeling better before they leave my office. Occasionally I fail, but most of my day is filled with happy patients… when they leave anyway! Can I help everyone? No. At this point, after 30,000+ adjustments, I have a good idea who can benefit from my care and I try hard to make sure to be honest about it.
- I am a nerd. I like to study, read, and try new things. At this point I have tried out so many types of healing that I have lost count. I have probably forgotten more about health than most people ever learn and there is still so much! What I use in my office today is the best of those things that I have learned… With one notable exception. Acupuncture. I have studied and am certified in Acupuncture, but while I do some acupressure and much of what I do Medicare likes to call Acupuncture I rarely pull out the needles. The reason is simple. I think if you are going to do the big acupuncture protocols you should go to a dedicated acupuncturist.
- I love lasers. Of all the toys I play with on a daily basis lasers are the best of the underutilized. If people knew how good they were no one would skip the laser with their adjustment. It speeds up healing and often helps with pain. I joke with my kids that I would like to live in the 1990s, but I would miss my lasers if I did!
- My protocol is as gentle as I can make it. When I was at Chiropractic College my wife was pregnant. She wanted me to learn how to treat soon to be moms and new born babies. Those are two categories that usually require very gentle adjustments. I found I was good at them and enjoyed it. Sure I can crack backs with the best of them, but why start there? I will do my best to get you better in as careful a method as I can manage. Some people are afraid of getting cracked and for those people I can use different means should they ask for it. For the rest we work muscles first and then adjust using methods that make it require less force.
